Dr Addisu describes the history and taxonomy of Bartonella species, including basic microbiology of this important organism. He differentiates between the major syndromes caused by Bartonella organisms and associates them with specific species. Diagnostic considerations are also discussed. A more obscure manifestation of Bartonella infection is culture negative endocarditis, which is also reviewed. Lastly, the speaker discusses therapy for Bartonella infections.
